2 August 2008: Walkabout Leeds Four
The Walkabout Leeds Series offers the opportunity for the group to explore specific areas of interest and put them into an historical context around the development of our amazing City.
A walk around the streets of Leeds can give us a glimpse into the rich historic fabric of this fine City; Walkabout Leeds is designed to take you to the places you may walk passed everyday and invites you to look a little harder to find out how we got where we are today from the earliest periods of time.
Following a break of two years I am pleased to announce that the next Walkabout Leeds event has been scheduled for Saturday 2nd August, 2008.
The Walkabout will cover the North and Western area of the city centre. We will learn about and visit sites where the University was founded, where Leeds General Infirmary was developed, where the poor of Leeds where cared for and where the BBC once broadcast to the Ridings.
Although this is not a public event you are more than welcome to bring along any friends that you feel would be interested in this type of event BUT please let me know as I produce a handout for attendees to keep and take home.
After the 'walking' concludes, a tradition of drinking beers in a central Leeds location followed by a trip to Pizza Express has become established.

Post-forty and enjoying life with family and a great circle of friends. I am looking to increase my social circle, especially when a couple of beers are required! I enjoy singing and currently sing Tenor with Leeds Philharmonic Society and Cantabile. Enjoy time with friends both in (watching a film, cooking a meal) or out (walking, photography).
