Wakefield Gay Group (WaGG), Wakefield, West Yorkshire
8 February 2012: Wakefield Gay Group (WaGG)
The Wakefield Gay Group is a friendly and fun place to meet new people, have a social drink and have fun.
Wakefield Gay Group (WaGG) is a monthly gay men's social group which meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (normally at the New Union, Wakefield) from 8pm till 10pm.
It started in September and its going from strength to strength with new people attending all the time.
If you live or work in Wakefield or neighbouring towns/areas then come along. People come to the group from Bradford, Leeds, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Halifax.
Each month there is either an activity or maybe a group discussion on a particular subject/theme. For the activity/theme of this meeting go to www.wakefieldgaygroup.co.uk.
In additional to the regular meeting date (2nd Wednesday of each month) the group do occasional additional activities, for example go on walks, meet for meals, go to the theatre or just meet informally for a drink or a coffee. The new Monthly Sunday Lunch Club, which meets on the last Sunday of each month from 2pm till 5pm at the New Union in Wakefield is a spin-off from the WaGG group.
The Co-ordinator of the group also has a lead role in the local LGBT Forum as well as with the Development of the Yorkshire LGBT Groups Consortium.
In this current climate, where people are losing jobs and disposable income can be an issue, attending groups can be a cheap way of meeting people and socialising with others. For many attending social groups can be an alternative to going on the scene or for older individuals who feel the scene doesn't have things to offer them.
I know for some people attending a group for the 1st time can be daunting or nerve wracking if you don't know anyone. So if you would like to talk or meet me beforehand then that can be arranged.
The group is very welcoming to new people and you will quickly be helped to be put at ease. To find out more, visit the website at www.wakefieldgaygroup.co.uk. For more information, you can either call/text me on [number available to members only] 47 or email [email address available to members only] and/or visit the web site at www.wakefieldgaygroup.co.uk.
OUTeverywhere member organiser
This event has been added to the OUTeverywhere calendar by Michael Dolphin from Wakefield in the West Yorkshire area.
I am a caring and considerate person who is genuine, helpful and quite creative. I am a qualified counsellor and Lifeskills trainer. I am a good listener and am sensitive to the needs of others. Much more in my writings. About to move to Wakefield in early July 2011 and keen to make new friends in the Wakefield/Leeds or Sheffield areas, as I know very few people in the area.
