Our very own quickfind:workingonit is Musical Director for Slough Musical Theatre Company's premier production of the rock opera "TOMMY", which is being performed Tues 19 - Sat 23 June at The Desborough Suite, Maidenhead Town Hall from 7.45pm.
Written in 1969 by Pete Townshend of the famous 1960-70's rock/pop group "The Who", "TOMMY" with its exciting, vibrant music and harmonies throughout, tells of a teenage boy (Tommy) who when young having witnessed a relative's murder; stops speaking, hearing or seeing. He eventually finds happiness playing pinball and when he becomes the world champion; he is spontaneously healed and becomes a religious cult figure.
The most famous song from the show is 'Pinball Wizard', which has been recorded by many people including Elton John. Other songs include 'Amazing Journey', 'See Me, Feel Me' and 'Sensation'. This is the first time that "TOMMY" has been performed in the Maidenhead area and with a band of 8 musicians is a show definitely not to be missed.
Tickets cost £10-00 (Tues), £12-00 (Wed - Thurs) and £14-00 (Fri - Sat) and may be purchased from our Box Office on [number available to members only] 98 or on the door on the performance evenings.
