The London Dungeons and Dragons Meetup Group (The Evil of Bargle - Episode 1), Borough, London
21 June 2008: The London Dungeons and Dragons Meetup Group (The Evil of Bargle - Episode 1)
Enjoy fantasy books and films? Played those choose your own adventure books as a child? Or even dabbled before with role-playing? Or even a regular role-player? Bored on a Saturday afternoon? Why not come along then!
Actually, this isn't an event that I am organising; rather I am advertising one at which I will be running (well, hopefully running if I get enough interest!) a game. So a sub-event I suppose. Basically, it is a group run under an umbrella organisation called meetup.com. This is an international organisation that runs all sorts of different groups across the World.
For those who have never role-played before, role-playing is essentially a game where you take on the role of a character in an adventure. You might be fighting trolls, stealing treasure, rescuing princesses etc.. You will have little figures to move around a map to aid your visualisation. You won't need to bring anything though if you are familiar with the system, a copy of the Player's Handbook, some dice, a character sheet and a pencil would all be very helpful.
Basically, my game is called "The Evil of Bargle" and will probably take about 4 weeks to run; THIS MEANS THAT IDEALLY YOU'LL BE ABLE TO COMMIT TO COMING FOR THAT PERIOD OF TIME. It doesn't matter if you haven't role-played before although if you have a familiarity with the version 3.5 rules that would be ideal. You do not need to bring a character sheet with you beforehand; we will generate characters on the day. The essence of the adventure is that a renegade magic-user by the name of Bargle has been terrorising the local populace. You have been hired by the mayor of the local village to locate him and bring him into custody. You can find a link to my adventure here:

You should note that I have never run an adventure using this system before so I WILL be slow and I WILL undoubtedly make some mistakes.
If you are intending to come, please sign up here and/or join Meetup.com. If you do not wish to join Meetup, let me know and I will add you to my profile as a guest.
Please note that the London Dungeons and Dragons Meetup Group is NOT specifically gay but that it is very friendly and welcoming. Note that the first two meetups are free but that after that there is a £1 charge per meetup.
I am sure I have forgotten to mention some things so if you want to know anything more, please message me. If you get stuck, you can always give me a call on my mobile. The number is [number available to members only] 16. I'll be the one with the pile of dice and the air of mystery and adventure.
