Isabelle Huppert stars as a woman in her late ‘30s who teaches piano at the Vienna Conservatory.
She lives with her tyrannical mother in a hermetically sealed world, and finds release only in voyeurism and music, until she enters into a masochistic affair with one of her pupils. The Piano Teacher won three awards at the Cannes Film Festival, including Best Actress for Isabelle Huppert and Best Actor for Benoît Magimel.
Based on the novel Die Klaviersplielerin by Nobel prize and controversial author Elfriede Jelinke.
