Real Ale Pub Crawl of Smithfield and Farringdon, London
12 March 2012: Real Ale Pub Crawl of Smithfield and Farringdon
We are Lesbian and Gay Real Ale Drinkers (LAGRAD), part of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), and we're having a pub crawl around Smithfield and Farringdon
We'll start at 7pm at the Old Red Cow on Long Lane (EC1A 9EJ), a pub which frequently has beers from independent microbrews on draft, including Redemption, Kernel and Camden breweries in London, and Dark Star, Harviestoun and Brewdog from further afield. They also have keg beers from the UK and further afield. http://www.theoldredcow.com/
We'll move on to the Fox and Anchor (EC1M 6AA), a (very good!) gastropub that serves up to 6 real ales in pewter tankards. A recent visit saw Bitter & Twisted, Old Growler, Double Dark, Sharp's Ruby winter ale, Pin-up's Redhead, and the Fox & Anchor Bitter (brewed by Nethergate). http://www.foxandanchor.com/about-us
Our third treat will be the Jerusalem Tavern (EC1M 5UQ), the only pub in London owned by the St. Peter's brewery (renowned for its flask-shaped oval bottles). They aim always to have 6 of their cask ales on at any time, and have further ales in bottles. http://www.stpetersbrewery.co.uk/london/default.htm
We finish with The Craft Beer Co (EC1N 7TR), which does exactly what it says on the tin. Alongside some dozen or so UK craft beers on tap, are a wide range of Belgian, German and American beers in bottles. http://thecraftbeerco.com/
OUTeverywhere member organiser
This event has been added to the OUTeverywhere calendar by Billy Tipps from Brighton in the East Sussex area.
I'm a gregarious, socialble character, who likes going out and being in a group (two's a group though, if it's the right person). I'm rather partial to good real ales, of which there are many. I'm involved with Lesbian and Gay Real Ale Drinkers, part of the Campaign for Real Ale and I joined OUTeverywhere initially to organise real ale social events in London and the Brighton area
