I have been involved in Queer Tango for over three years, having started and developed in my home town of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
- You don't need to have any previous experience, knowledge or even have a clue of what tango is.
- If you do: I will tailor the lessons and exercises to cater for all abilities.
- Do feel free to come on your own, but those of you who've done it already and know how great it is, tell your friends and get them to come along!
- No special clothing required, comfy's always best!
- And remember you can bring your own snacks and drinks (alcoholic or non)
In Queer Tango we welcome everyone. it's a space to get together, enjoy tango music, to socialize, to exchange and learn. A continuous search for new ways of comunication through movement and dance. Queer Tango breaks with regimented tradition and bends the rules that have, for decades, applied to traditional tango. In Queer Tango sexual orientation is not an assumption, and gender does not restrict you to a role. Queer tango is in favour of exploring and we embrace diversity. Queer tango does not discriminate against others or oneself. We respect codes, style, roles, type of dress and shoes, how the dancing couples are conformed, sexuality, religion, ethnic background, age, gender, nationality, social class...
Queer Tango nurtures and grows from exploring the possibilities that -all in all- we get from all being different.
Looking forward to seeing you there,
Cecilia
