i am a student (sometimes teacher) of ancient knowledge :) Its my passion . . and I've been researching some of the secrets of the past from different religions. I consider them somethign like hidden technology of the mind . .. nothing (or little) to do with faith and belief .. .all to do with wisdom.
Let me give you an egsample. Patience brings uderstanding (if you wait you learn the reason of things as reality unfolds), and understanding of the nature of a problem brings patience. A small lesson I learned form the kabbala.
As you can see this is technology of the mind :)
