OUT Spirituality Group - Voices of the Ancestors, London
15 September 2009: OUT Spirituality Group - Voices of the Ancestors
All that we have been, and all those who have gone before us play a part in making us who we are today. Many of our issues often turn out to be ancestral energies trying in vain to resolve unfinished issues not of our, but their making.
All that we have been, and all those who have gone before us play a part in making us who we are today. Many of our energy problems, obsessive issues and persistent complexes often turn out to be ancestral energies trying in vain to speak or act through us to resolve unfinished issues not of our, but their making. Much of the freedom we experience today as gay men has come from a lot of struggle and courage from men of the past who stood up for who and what they believed in. As gay men in this current generation we must honour these men to allow them, through drama and ritual, to tell and heal their unfinished stories. Most non-western cultures believe it is the responsibility of the living to heal their ancestors, be it family or tribal, otherwise their sick energy will continue to affect future generations.
Guided by intuitive play, shamanic ritual, colour medicine and storytelling, we will experience and bring to life the dramas of self and community. Watch as our personal and collective stories unfold in front of you, which then evokes the process of profound healing and reconciliation on a soul level. We will use an action method called Dynamic Theatre© which is a way of creating sacred space and is a place where heart and soul can step forward for the conscious creation of your wildest dreams filled with abundance, joy, laughter, and love. In the process bring to consciousness the hidden myths and stories that run through your life, and learn to transform these stories from dreams to realities and in so doing help others explore and create their own. When we honour and listen to those distant voices from the past, we create stronger roots, securer foundations and experience a joy of living in the present, together with an excitement for creating the future we desire and offering an enormous gift to those yet to come. In every community there are wounds to heal, and in every heart there is the power to do it.
Mark Wentworth lives in Lisbon, Portugal and has been working and studying personal development for 20 years. His background is based in Colour Psychology, Deep Memory Process and Shamanism. Mark is the founder and principal of Colour for Life, a training school for transformational colour therapy and personal development. He created Dynamic Theatre several years ago by bringing together a unique blend of Psychodrama, systemic constellations and Shamanism. Mark has presented Dynamic Theatre in Europe, UK and US, as well as sharing it at various world conferences that promote and support the world community.

The Out Spirituality Group is a friendly meeting of like-minded gay and bisexual people who have an interest in spirituality. We look at a variety of topics and issues, with the aim of enabling people to broaden their knowledge and experience of spiritual matters (whatever that means for each of us).
There are opportunities to discuss our journey thus far, where we are at, and where our journey may be taking us.
Come along and be refreshed, invigorated and maybe discover different ways of thinking about things. The venue has an ambience of prayer and spirituality at this location people have sought for centuries to encounter a power greater than themselves. There is something unquantifiably special about the complex of buildings that is St James's: it is a safe place for all who do not fit the usual stereotypes; here there is no pressure to conform. Hence we can soak up some of the accumulated spiritual energy of the years and possibly add in some small way to the spirituality that is here.
Whilst the prime focus is on spirituality, by participating in the evening we have an opportunity to build friendships and to network and to form connections that will have a positive effect on our lives and potentially in ways that we cannot yet envisage. It is more than meetings!!
We have a pseudo-event dedicated to the friendship and networking side of things - see quickfind:318866
The meeting starts with a light buffet at 6.30pm, the charge for which is £3. This is a great way to unwind and to meet and greet new friends and old.
Our fortnightly meetings on Tuesday evenings are advertised on the Events' section of OUT, and also on our website: http://tinyurl.com/osgevents
Nothing is ever set in stone, so please do let us know your views on the group in general, meetings that you have attended, and the sort of topics that you would like us to cover. The best way of doing that is to complete the feedback form on our website. Or send a message via OUT to the event organiser.
