8 January 2008: OUT Spirituality Group: Festivities Unwrapped - a seasonal perspective
Join us on Tuesday 8th January for our first meeting of the New Year.
Did you have a spiritual Christmas? Was your holiday festive?
Or was it, like for so many people, more of the same consumerism, with little or none of the true essence of the season? Is the Christmas and New Year Spirit one that's in the bottle these days? What did you do for yours?
What is the essence of the season anyway? Giving or receiving? What about the need for inner nourishment and acknowledgement, support and comfort from our fellow human beings?
Did you celebrate New Year? If so, what does it mean for us as individuals? If not Christmas, what season / holiday did you have instead?
Did you take part because you wanted to, or because it was expected?
Why do we do this, year on year, when seemingly all Christmas is about is buying and consuming expensive food and gifts made out of precious materials and resources which may be fast running out?...
.when those things that are under-used, the things that never run out, are so
little appreciated. Were you free with your gifts as a human being - like a hug, a kiss, and spending time with someone you have not seen for a while? Did you give freely of your ideas and thoughts, sharing yourself with your neighbours, friends?
Did you have a traditional Christmas or was it different? Come and share your thoughts and experiences with us.
The evening will be facilitated by Robin Bold and Andrew Rolph.

The Out Spirituality Group is a friendly meeting of like-minded gay people who have an interest in spirituality. We look at a variety of topics and issues, with the aim of enabling people to broaden their knowledge and experience of spiritual matters (whatever that means for each of us).
There are opportunities to discuss our journey thus far, where we are at, and where our journey may be taking us.
Whilst the prime focus is on spirituality, by participating in the evening we have an opportunity to build friendships and to network – and to form connections that will have a positive effect on our lives and potentially in ways that we cannot yet envisage. It is more than meetings!!
We have a pseudo-event dedicated to the friendship and networking side of things - see quickfind:318866
After the meeting we go to a local gay pub, where space is reserved for us. This is a further chance to continue discussion and to get to know people. On this occasion only, food is available at no charge - and lots of it!!
