=====================

This is the annual OUTback camping weekend over the August Bank Holiday. It is held on a gay-only site prepared for just the one weekend each year. It has always been a very friendly and welcoming event and if you haven't been to OUTback before you'll find that everyone will make you feel at home, especially after a couple of cans of lager!

Tickets for the camping weekend from midday Friday to 6pm Monday are £30 per person for the whole 3-day event. Extra nights bookending this period are £5 per head per night. Message me for ways of buying a ticket which may be by Paypal, bank transfer, cheque or postal order.

A few quickfire FAQs (click this link Quickfind:442605 for a more in-depth FAQ page).

Are camper vans and caravans welcome? Yes, but ask about electrics -you will need your own extension lead.

Do I need a tent? Yes you need a tent. You can buy tents suitable for a summer weekend in Cornwall from as little as £15 on eBay. You need a tent, or bring your camper van or caravan.

Are dogs welcome? Yes.

How far is civilisation? Pubs and shops 5 minutes away, Truro city centre 3 miles by bus.

Anybody from OUT is welcome.

These are photos of previous OUTbacks including the 2011 event, much more back to nature. But for 2012 the marquee is back.

The event is non-profit; in practice it makes a loss due to the one-off nature of OUTback and the costs of turning an ordinary field into a reasonably civilised camp site for one weekend a year.

You are welcome to arrive as early as Wednesday and leave later than Monday, as some do every year.

camp fire and bendy lighting. There will also be a small tent to act as a mobile phone/tablet charging place.

Most OUTbackers go off during the day singly or in groups and do their own thing. There are lots of things to do in Cornwall during the day, as anybody who has been here on holiday will know. Saturday is Cornwall Gay Pride day in Truro, see http://www.cornwallpride.com/index.php/entertainment/evening-entertainment

Visit the famous Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Michael's Mount, Land's End, the historic tin mining area of St Just and Cape Cornwall, the creeks and inlets of the Helford River, or the beach party and surfing atmosphere of Newquay. Or how about a day trip by helicopter to the magical Isles of Scilly?

The campsite is in central Cornwall and easy to get to. From London or the North it is all motorway and dual carriageway. A new 10 mile section of dual carriageway has eliminated the tedious bank holiday jams at the old roundabout at Bodmin and the slow trek across Goss Moor. You can be at OUTback in 2 hours 45 minutes from Bristol Gordano services. This is the route once you turn off the A30 at Chiverton roundabout:

Once at the camp site, Truro town centre is just three miles away, while within a 5-minute walk are local shops and two pubs. You can arrive by train or coach, as Truro station is just 2 miles away).

OUTback is the highlight of the year for me and I look forward to welcoming campers old and new. Come along and you'll have a great time in the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, set amongst an idyllic field where we can enjoy ourselves in a relaxed all-gay environment.
