22 August 2008: OUTback 7 Camping in Cornwall
Join 50 OUT guys camping in an exclusively gay field in Cornwall, with 30 ft x 20 ft frame marquee, toilets and shower block, barbecue, fancy dress party, and exciting daily sub-events exploring Cornwall. See my profile for pics of OUTbacks past!
This will be the 7th OUTback camping weekend over the August Bank Holiday. If you attended OUTback 6 or any of the previous ones, are not already on this guest list and wish to come, you and your friends are more than welcome. In fact anybody is welcome, so don't be shy. Usually, about 50% of us are newcomers, but the friendly atmosphere soon puts everyone at ease. See my profile photos for lots of pics of OUTbacks past and the discussion thread at Quickfind:351798

There will be two camping fields, a marquee, barbecue facilities, purpose built toilet and shower block, and a fancy dress party on the Sunday evening. The OUTback minibus will transport people to and from the Eclipse club and during the day to beaches and other attractions as needed. There will be an OUTback Hotel tent with three separate and distinct double bedrooms for those who want to come but who don't have a tent.
This year the Sunday party theme will be A Medieval Banquet.
Outside caterers will be involved. The emphasis will be very much on a free slap-up medieval feast with real ale, blackberry wine, and authentic 15c dishes. Our traditional barbecue facilities will be on hand for you to supplement this Feast with your own food if you wish. The idea is that we will all sit down together in the marquee, around a long banqueting table. Quickfind:valkor has agreed to reprise his role at the St Brievals Youth Hostel OUT weekend of a few years ago. He will be our Lord of the Banquet!
In fact the whole weekend will be medieval themed. If you want to walk around as Friar Tuck, Robin Hood or Maid Marion feel free! So make sure you don your sackcloth tunics and pointy shoes. Also, if there are any guys who want to sit in the corner and play us the lute or get his gemshorn out, feel free! (Eat your heart out, Sting).
The marquee will be smaller than in '07 and there will be no live music. There may be some background party music for a few hours each evening depending on the results of my quickies and the consensus of the campers. Please go and answer my Quickies! I will devote my energies to helping guests enjoy their daytime pursuits such as visiting tourist attractions and Cornwall's wonderful beaches, with the aid of the the minibus for those without their own transport (you can arrive by train or coach, as Truro station is just 2 miles away). Or even fly to Newquay, where we will pick you up.
This event is open to all who attend on the basis that OUTback is in effect a private party hosted by me and with the support of the late David "BBQ" Butler's family, in his memory, and on whose farm we are kindly permitted to camp. The fee is simply to cover the direct costs of the marquee, minibus, donation by way of camping fees to the cost of the toilet/shower block etc. built by Dave, and other costs. The event is non profit-making. Any surplus is ploughed back into the next event; any direct and indirect losses are absorbed by me. In 2007 OUTback made a loss of about £200.
I have not finished costing this event yet but in all probability the fee will be the same as the two previous years, ie £40 per person, and tickets will go on sale 1st June, as before.

Hi, I enjoy clubbing, surfing, mountain biking, cars, music, swimming and the countryside. If I've invited you to OUTback it's because I want as many people as possible to come down and have a good time in sunny Cornwall.
