Visit to Woburn Abbey, a grand house with a deer park and magnificent art collection.
The next Out & About visit will be to Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire. Seat of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford and their family, set in a 3000 acre Deer Park, Woburn Abbey houses an outstanding and important art collection.
Since 1619, successive Dukes and Earls of Bedford have dedicated their lives and talents to preserving and developing the House, the Gardens and the Estate. A particular love of art has been a common passion through the centuries and the Abbey now has of the finest private collections in England, featuring masterworks by Van Dyck, Gainsborough, Reynolds and Velasquez.
* 250 paintings on 3 floors.
* English, Japanese, German and French porcelain including the Sévres Gift Service - a present to the 4th Duchess from Louis XV of France.
* Silver pieces by famous Huguenot silversmiths including Paul de Lamerie.
The renowned Sculpture Gallery provides a wonderful setting for weddings, receptions, dinners, seminars and corporate events.
The entrance fee to the House and Grounds is £10.50.
