10 November 2007: North Warwickshire Bike Ride - 25 miles
A 25 mile circular bike ride from Atherstone in North Warwickshire. We will be following an official North Warwickshire Council cycle route, through pretty rural villages and towns.
Following on from the success of the first cycle ride that I did last month, starting at Kingsbury Water Park in North Warwickshire, I thought I'd organise another one.
The emphasis is again on sociable, fun exercise not a cardio vascular workout. There will be at least one pub stop en route for refreshments and the pace will be an average speed of around 10mph. There are not too many hills on the route.
Don't let the distance put you off.. 25 miles is not too far if you are used to cycling at all, however, if you've never been on a longer bike ride before, then maybe this isn't for you, unless you do a dummy run beforehand? If people are interested in shorter rides then let me know and I will see if I can organise some?
If you want to bring a packed lunch then feel free to do so..some people did last time. There will be food available in at least one of the pubs en route though.
Obviously at this time of the year weather can be an issue... If its torrential rain then the event is unlikely to happen. I will be there even if it is raining though in case any of you are as mad as me! Even if its a clear day, its likely to be frosty so bring layers of warm clothing to put on and shed at various points around the route.. gloves are a good idea to stop your hands freezing too.
