Palestine Eye Witness Accounts
Within the last year 3 local residents of Richmond and Kingston Boroughs have made separate visits to Palestine to see for themselves the realities of life under occupation. On July 12th at 7:30, St Richards church, Ashburnham Road, Ham, they will be giving eye witness accounts of what they saw and experienced.
Diana Mills will talk about her experiences in the village of Al'Walaja near Bethlehem, where she was helping to rebuild a house demolished by the Israeli Defence Force seven years ago.
David O keefe visited Palestine last year on a programme to help Palestinian farmers in the West Bank collect their annual olive harvest.
He witnessed the hardship experienced not just by farm-ers whose fields have been divided by the Separation Wall, but by the Palestinian population at large as they go about their daily lives faced with the difficulties of living under military occupation.
Video report of the olive harvest and international support:
Pamela Hardyment spent a number of weeks in may this year, the West Bank with the International Women's Peace Service near Nablus, helping the Palestinians. She will talk about her visits to the walled city of Qalqiliya, the weekly protests at Nabi Saleh and the behaviour of the IDF troops on Palestine's own Nakba Day on May 15th at the peaceful demonstration at the Qalandiya crossing to Jerusalem.
