I lived for six years as a novice at Amaravati Buddhist monastery and the style of meditation I teach is based on the teachings of the Abbot, Ajahn Sumedho, and the Thai forest tradition with its links to Ajahn Chah. I practiced meditation for six years prior to being in the monastery and now have over 18 years experience of practicing and teaching meditation.
The emphasis of the teaching is on how to become present in the moment and connect with feelings of appreciation, ease and joy.
There will be tuition on how to respond in a creative and loving way to negative and self critical thoughts.
The meditation is taught in a way that encourages you to include all of yourself in the experience: body, mind, feelings and thoughts.
Rather than trying to force your mind to be quiet or making meditation into a thing you have to succeed in it is an approach of resting into the space of awareness that holds all of the experience that is arising within it: thoughts and distractions become like clouds in a clear blue sky, and over time our attention can shift from identifying with the clouds to experiencing the huge limitless expanse of the sky, giving rise to a feeling of unlimited peace, calm and joy.
The meditation on Loving Kindness offers an opportunity to turn down the volume on the self-critical and destructive inner voice and connect instead with a feeling of being at ease, happy and abundant.
From this feeling of emotional well being and abundance we can then give from our hearts to others. It is a giving that flows out as a result of connecting with an experience of unlimited emotional wealth and so is effortless. Over time this practice can change the way we relate to the world and the way others relate to us. [number available to members only] 560

I teach a meditation group for gay men in London. I lived for six years as a Buddhist monk and now live in London. I'm looking at ways of going into businesses to teach meditation - 'stress busting'. Let me know if you are interested! In my social life I like to relax with friends and explore spiritual teachings. I'm not heavily into the scene so more likely to goto the theatre or park.
