10 May 2008: Ladywell Fields Fun day - celebrating new river in Park
This free event, which runs from 11.00am to 4.00pm, marks the completion of the QUERCUS project. With funding from EU, Ladywell Fields has undergone a transformation, making it a safe and attractive place for people and wildlife.
Enjoy nature walks and talks, the children's animal corner, face painting, line dancing, paper boat races, bouncy castles and slide, Family Nature Trails and pond dipping.
Throughout the day, for sports enthusiasts, there will also be cricket, football, short tennis and tag rugby.
Or why not enjoy a Walk and Wade in the River Ravensbourne.
The Council continues to work with the local Community Police and park wardens employed by Lewisham's park contractor, Glendale Grounds Management, to ensure that users of Ladywell Fields feel as safe as possible.
Key work to Ladywell Fields has included:
Making the park more attractive by introducing greater diversity of trees and riverside plants
Creating an additional stream through the centre of the north end of Ladywell Fields, the planting of new trees and the encouragement of natural seeding from plants and shrubs
Creating open spaces at entrances to the park for a more welcoming feel
Creating a new accessible path to Ladywell Station
Wheelchair/buggy access to the new stream
Improved signage.
Bring a Picnic if you want. Regular Pink Picnics may be planned in this 'rural' spot in suburbia.
Cafe and refreshments on site.
No alcohol on sale.
Orange badges appreciated if you want to network as loads of people around!
