25 November 2007: Labour and Skills Swop
Want to start and host a group that swops skills together without paying each other. Using a 'currency' that has no financial value outside the group. Eg help one another to walk the dog, do jobs we hate to do, help each other.
I am going to start a group where we list our skills, eg can walk dogs, do shopping, give lifts, decorate, plumbing etc. Do a mini directory and send this monthly to members of the group. Thinking maybe a annual members fee of £5 to cover all the admin. We have our own 'currency' - name of which to be decided. Then members trade their skills for each others, so we can get odd jobs done and get to help one another and the less able members get a kick start into being in a community that is supportive.
Why? Cos i work many hours and am drowning in jobs around the home, could do with help, have disabled mum and reckon i can offer skills into the group too. I am aiming to be treasurer and chairman, but will need other people to help. THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING EXERCISE!
