Jevington S Downs walk, S Downs, East Sussex
18 November 2007: Jevington S Downs walk
Outers are invited to join BLAGSS on this lovely seven mile Downland walk in East Sussex, which uses part of the Jubilee Way and the South Downs Way to the west of Eastbourne. There are glorious views of the Channel from the open Downs.
This walk is led by Tim with Brighton Lesbian and Gay Sports Society. Those wishing to take part should register by visiting www.blagss.org and contacting the co-ordinator from the walking page for more info. As well as on the downs the route includes attractive woodlands and secluded combes (the typical dry valleys in this part of the country). As always with Downland walks there are some substantial climbs and descents, but we shall take these at a steady pace suitable for all abilities, stopping at intervals. Some mud is to be expected at this time of year, and strong shoes or boots are advisable, but no other specialised equipment is required. The Eight Bells pub in the attractive little village of Jevington, which has an outdoor covered area with heaters as well as a smallish bar area, is conveniently placed for a mid-walk snack or a Sunday roast if you decide not to bring sandwiches.
