A regular Wednesday night gathering for gay/bi guys, 18 years or older, who want to build new friendships and whose needs are not being met by the main 'gay scene'. Meet for chat and refreshments in a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere.
Icebreakers meets regularly every Wednesday night in Manchester. Run by volunteers, the group meets for chat and refreshments in a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere before moving on to a favourite bar in the Gay Village.
Created originally as a group to support men through the process of 'coming out' and forming their first gay friendships, it has adapted to cater for the wider needs of gay/bi guys, 18 years or older, who want to make new friends and whose needs are not being met by the main 'gay scene'. This includes those new to Greater Manchester having moved for work or study, and those feeling lonely or isolated due to the ending of long-term relationships.
Icebreakers is a transitional group; its users make friends and move on together. In its 21 years of operation, Icebreakers has helped literally thousands of men come to terms with being gay and build supportive and lasting networks of friends.

This event is promoted by one of OUTeverywhere's Event Partners. Our partners are commercial venues, social groups or not-for-profit organisations that create events bringing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people together. Icebreakers is a self-help group run by volunteers. It exists to support gay & bisexual men in Greater Manchester through the process of 'coming out' and forming a social network. It also helps such men find friends when they are new to the area, or coping with feelings of isolation such as when a long-term relationship ends. It meets at 8pm every Wednesday night in central Manchester.
