Heroes celebrated by Gay Men's Chorus, Edinburgh
28 November 2009: Heroes celebrated by Gay Men's Chorus
Edinburgh Gay Men's Chorus will be celebrating "Heroes" at their winter concert to be held in St George's West Church, Shandwick Place, Edinburgh at 8pm on Saturday 28th November.
In these desperate times when economies are failing, the King of Pop is dead and John and Edward have got into the Xfactor live shows, who can people turn to?
The forty strong EGMC have the answer: what we need is a band of Heroes to lift the gloom, add some sparkle and camp it up for the sake of the nation. The Chorus intends to save you from "Strictly" and High School Musical" with an action packed evening of songs about all things heroic. If you've been holding out for a hero - look no further.
Tickets cost £7 (£5 conc.) and are available from www.hubtickets.co.uk or call 0131-473 2000. Also from Chorus members and at the door.
The Chorus is in its second year of performance with just over 40 members. Musical Director James Wilkinson steers the Chorus through a selection of musical genres such as barber shop, show tunes, pop and Scottish music.
Although the weekly rehearsals can be tough due to the complex arrangements that have to be learned, the guys never lose sight of the main reasons for being there which are: having fun and loving music. This atmosphere of excitement and fun comes across in performances, leaving audiences "strangely excited" and wanting more.
