15 August 2010: HeartSound Camp
HeartSound Voice Camp in Dorset. 15th - 22nd August 2010. A week in a Dorset field with a team of renowned UK voice teachers in a lovely setting near the famous Jurassic coast. Pitch your tent and sing the body eclectic!
HeartSound:
Heart Sound is a 'natural voice' camp for singers and non-singers; for adults and families, gay and straight. Heart Sound offers a range of singing workshops that focus on discovering and developing your natural voice in a way that is heart-centred and fun. There is a full programme of song workshops and other activities for all ages, from early morning until bedtime. Each evening has a special event, and one evening the camp will put on a public performance event in the local famous church in Whitchurch at the shrine of St Wite.
You won't need to think about what to do -- each day will have a full programme. But if you want to escape the relentlessly joyful harmony singing :-) for some of the time - the spectacular Jurassic coast and coastal towns of Lyme Regis and Bridport are only minutes away.
Food and Cooking:
All done on log fires in small camp circles. All daily tasks are shared, and you'll probably find yourself cooking for your circle with one or more other people at least one evening.
Teachers:
Dee Jarlett and Ali Orbaum lead big choirs in Bristol and have performed around the world. Polly Bolton, the celebrated exponent of the decorative style of traditional British singing, who has performed and recorded with more musicians than one can list (Show of Hands, Alan Stivell, Steve Knightly, etc). Sarah Pennington and Gilo who lead singing days and retreats around the UK. There will also be other voice teachers, and DUP teachers, and a Wellbeing team offering a range of therapies and massages.
Cost of Camp:
Adults £165
Young Adults £115
Teens (13-18) £75
Children (5-12) £55
Under 5s are free

I hope you'll be able to come and join us. I always enjoy meeting OUTers at these events. And this is the first time I've put a whole week-long event on OUTeverywhere. I should add that the teachers' pay rates are not dependent on this event listing. Our pay has already been agreed - and reached by current bookings. So I'm not benefiting further by posting the event on this site. We merely wish to make the camp accessible to more of the LGBT community.
