11 July 2009: Gay Outdoor Club Herts @ Great Offley, Beds.
Ladies and Gents are welcome to join the GOC Herts' monthly walk. Today's walk is "Red Lions of North Herts: Great Offley and Preston".
What's happening?
Circular walk through farmland. About 8.5 miles/13.5 km. Approximate finishing time Two long hills but otherwise relatively flat. Good paths through and along fields, and woods: unless it's rained a lot, it should be relatively dry underfoot. Lovely views across the rolling Herts countryside. We are likely to see buzzards and possibly a red kite.
Lunch stop at the Red Lion, on the green in Preston, a community pub with pretty gardens and always stocking several guest beers (real ales) at reasonable prices (approx £2-80 per pint).
What should I bring?
Please bring a large packed lunch and plenty of water. Recommend plastic sheeting to sit on (for lunch)(but don't eat it).
Sturdy walking boots are strongly recommended for this walk.
What is Herts GOC?
Herts GOC is a local branch of the Gay Outdoor Club ( http://www.goc.org.uk/ ). It promotes the practice, learning and refining of outdoors activities and skills.
GOC has its own annual subscription fee. Prospective members are welcome to "try before you buy".
