22 September 2007: Gay Outdoor Club Hertfordshire: cycling (Kings Langley)
Ladies and Gents are welcome to join the GOC Herts' annual cycling event.
What's happening?
Would you like to join the men and women of Herts GOC on a circular bike ride of 15 miles from Kings Langley?
The following description comes from the ride's leader, quickfind:paulf .
The route will be a mix of on road and off road and is likely to be muddy so a mountain bike with nobbly tyres will be required. Road bikes and/or road tyres will not be suitable for this route.
This route will take in the Grand Union Canal tow path before heading west towards Bovingdon then back via the tow path to Kings Langley. It will be a mix of roads (primarily country lanes with occasional busier stretches) bridleways and woodland trails. There are some hills also but nothing serious and the latter part of the ride is downhill.
There are places on the route to stop for lunch and a selection of pubs for an optional pint also.
What should I bring?
As above, a mountain bike is absolutely mandatory.
Please bring a large packed lunch, plenty of water, a puncture repair kit and all of the tools that your bike regularly needs you to use!
What is Herts GOC?
Herts GOC is a local branch of the Gay Outdoor Club ( http://www.goc.org.uk/ ). It promotes the practice, learning and refining of outdoors activities and skills.
GOC has its own annual subscription fee. Prospective members are welcome to "try before you buy".
