Ladies and Gents are welcome to join the GOC Herts' monthly walk. This month's walk is 12.06 miles (!!) around Lilley.
Would you like to join the men and women of Herts GOC on a circular walk of 12.06 miles around Lilley?
Lilley features some of Herts' and Southern Beds' most picturesque countryside, with undulating hills, views and pretty villages. It also has some good views of Luton (yes, Luton) and a wide horizon of south Bedfordshire.
The walk features hills and a number of steep gradients. Half of the walk is on thick clay, half is on chalk. A small part of the walk is on road.
We'll eat lunch on the top of some hill somewhere, so please consider wearing your windcheater.
If the weather is poor, I will shorten the walk to ~8 miles.
Please bring a large packed lunch and plenty of water. Recommend plastic sheeting to sit on (for lunch)(but don't eat it). Wear sturdy walking boots that can cope with tarmac, chalk and mud.
Herts GOC is a local branch of the Gay Outdoor Club ( http://www.goc.org.uk/ ). It promotes the practice, learning and refining of outdoors activities and skills.
GOC has its own annual subscription fee. Prospective members are welcome to "try before you buy".
