Gay Men's meditation Group, London
22 February 2010: Gay Men's meditation Group
Gay Men's Meditation group A place for Gay men to meet other like minded men, explore their spiritual interests and create a loving and supportive environment together.
Welcome to the Gay Men's meditation group.
We are now meeting every Monday except Bank holidays.
I'm sometimes asked why have a group dedicated to gay men as Buddhism is so inclusive. My main reason is the hope that we can create a new type of social environment for gay men created by gay men.
Many of us enjoy a visit to Soho and the clubs, for others it feels like an alien environment or they feel too old to participate. These classes provide an opportunity for gay men to explore their spiritual side with like minded men away from the pressure of the 'scene'. It is a place for us to make new friendships and look at how we can support and nurture each other as a community, a place for authentic and loving communication and for finding ways to experience a greater happiness and sense of self acceptance.
There is a new system for paying. Rather than having a fixed fee participants will be asked to make a donation at the end of the class. The suggested amount is £8 but you can give more or less depending on what you can afford. I hope that this will enable people to come who may not be able to afford the full price and that others may be in a position to donate more and thereby support those who cannot pay the full amount.
We will consider how to work with self doubt and the inner critic. Subsequent classes will explore this theme along with 'letting go' and experiencing lving kindness towards ourself an others.
OUTeverywhere member organiser
This event has been added to the OUTeverywhere calendar by Nick K from New Cross in the London area.
I teach a meditation group for gay men in London. I lived for six years as a Buddhist monk and now live in London. I'm looking at ways of going into businesses to teach meditation - 'stress busting'. Let me know if you are interested! In my social life I like to relax with friends and explore spiritual teachings. I'm not heavily into the scene so more likely to goto the theatre or park.
