12 April 2008: GayDads get together - Birmingham
I am organising a spring get together for members of GayDads-UK, it will be very informal and a great way of meeting others in a similar situation - many new friendships always result. All the details are on the gaydads website www.gaydads.co.uk
I organise a get together for GayDads each year in Birmingham as it is central for most people, plus the fact it has a really nice set of smart bars etc in the Hurst Street area.
We usually all meet up around noon, then once everyone is there, we do a bit of a tour round the gay area just having lots of informal chats/ discussions etc.
We then usually regroup early evening and go out for a meal altogether. After the meal we usually have a few more drinks and then for those who feel like it - a bit of clubbing in Nightingales.
It is a great way of meeting new people, making new friends. Dont feel shy or awkward about coming on your own, everyone else is on their own too. There is a complete range of ages, backgrounds, different stages of coming out, resolution of the situations that being a gay dad can present.
You can register your attendance on the gaydads website and also see who else is coming. there is a small annual membership to GayDads website which goes towards developing, maintaining, and advertising the site.
