Festival of Song, Bradwell, Essex
26 April 2008: Festival of Song
Celebrate the close chord in an amazing setting. Led by two OUT members, both experienced UK voice teachers. Sing beautiful harmonies from around the world and raise the rafters of an ancient chapel on the Essex coast. 50 coming from elsewhere.
Come and sing with two popular Natural Voice teachers in St Peter's Chapel. This Celtic/Saxon cathedral built by Saint Cedd in the 650's stands by the salt marshes of the Essex coast beyond Bradwell. It has a haunting and desolate beauty - miles as it is from the nearest road. And as you might imagine, it also has a wonderful acoustic quality. So if you like the sound of a day far away from traffic, immersed instead in a world of harmonies and unusual rhythms, come and join us. No need to read music or think of yourself as a singer. Just bring your voice and we'll bring the va-va-voom to meld everyone into a community of song. We are well known for bringing plenty of humour to song workshops, as well as a high quality of result. And we welcome newcomers to the Natural Voice approach to singing. All songs are taught by hand and ear and voice. No music sheets in sight!
What sort of songs? Might be anything from a rousing Gospel number to a gentle Maori welcome call to a Baka tribal song from Cameroon to perhaps an American shapenote hymn or an evocative Harmonic Temple chant -- all in four and more part harmonies.
If you're coming, you'll need to book a place with our hosts (this day is part of a weekend we're leading for the Othona Community). Just click *probable* or *definite* on the guest list - and I'll send you Othona's contact and details of how to find the venue.
There'll be heterosexual singers there too! But you'll find it a friendly and welcoming space. We're both on OUT and we both glow.....gay, lesbian or whatever.
Hope you can join us to sing up a storm
