Feeling Gloomy, Angel, London

10 November 2007: Feeling Gloomy

Feeling far too cheerful? Can't stop smiling? Then I have the perfect antiodote! Come to Feeling Gloomy; It'll soon put a frown on your face and bring a tear to your eye.

Feeling Gloomy is the most surreal but wonderful club I have ever been to! Check out their website:

http://www.feelinggloomy.com/main.html

They basically play anything miserable or weird (usually, but certainly not exclusively, indie). Note that Feeling Gloomy is a straight club but do not let that put you off; the promoters Len and Cliff are extremely friendly and the place is very relaxed feeling. Entrance is £6 (er I think) or you can pre-order tickets for £3.75. Expect to be treated to the delights of the Miserabalists with their very lively front man, Cliff and his collection of celebrity lunch boxes and the YTS DJ. Oh and Death. Doing some djing. Well maybe as I haven't seen him for a while. Basically think Shinky Shonky with all the surrealness but none of the sleaze and with Len and Cliff instead of Boogaloo Stu and Princess Twinkle Knickers. So er actually not very much like it at all. Er is this description helping? No, I thought not. Oh just come along and find out for yourself what it's like!

Anyway, this is one night you won't want to miss. As their website says, its the club that brings a tear to the eye. Oh and it does have a serious side to as well as they raise money for a charity called The Depression Alliance that works with people suffering from depression:

This week its they're second birthday which means that there'll be extra fun (or should that be gloom?); they promise free Feeling Gloomy t-shirts, cake, "gloomioke" and also "speed hating" (a particular speciality of Feeling Gloomy - Cliff has said that he will get some of his gay mates to come along). Invite your mates! Remember; misery loves company! Seriously, don't be put off - its not actually at all gloomy its really fun and inventive - a very different night out.

Meet at the King Edward VI. I'll be the miserable looking one in the corner. With no mates and a face like a smacked arse.

Please note that Feeling Gloomy is gay friendly but NOT gay.
