Faith, Homophobia, Transphobia & Human Rights Conference, London
16 May 2009: Faith, Homophobia, Transphobia & Human Rights Conference
Building positive alliances for equality and sexual diversity. All welcome regardless of sexual orientation, faith, or belief. Supporting the International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia (IDAHO) - May 17
For people of all faiths and none, this conference follows a ground-breaking 2007 event which unanimously affirmed and celebrated values of human equality and social justice, rooted in the best of faith traditions, and shared by all who are committed to a fully human vision of a transformed society (see website for 2007 Conference Statement). In plenary sessions, panel discussions & workshops the day will counter onslaughts on LGBT rights to goods & services, confront exemptions to equality legislation in employment and education, challenge homophobia and transphobia in faith schools and elsewhere, and build alliances between people of faith and all those committed to promoting social equality and cohesion.
