Dorset Chillout **Summer Special**, Dorchester, Dorset
17 August 2008: Dorset Chillout **Summer Special**
Walk round Maiden Castle. Bring a Picnic lunch. Then a visit to Thomas Hardy's house. And you'll even get a history handout......Woooo!
Instead of our usual monthly Chillout coffee posse we thought we'd have a picnic with a bit of history thrown in. Make August's Chillout a special Dorsetshire outing with some Iron Age stuff and a literary foray as well. So we've lined up a visit to the largest earthwork in Europe. You can wear themed costume if you like, but wolfskin is apt to chafe. And we'll give you a history handout to read during the picnic. How cool is that. Then a visit to Max Gate, the house that Thomas Hardy built. Remember him from school? The one who wrote 'Far from the Madding Mayor of Casterbridge' and all that. Cheerful novels weren't they.
And you'll bring along a picnic lunch which will probably be rifled by everyone else, because you'll be the only person to have brought hardboiled plovers eggs or smoked salmon mousseline or your Great Aunt Ottoline's celebration fudge. Or whatever.
Oh and there'll be gays and lesbians and whatevers from other networks too. There might be some youngsters. And there'll be Ben the gay dog. So you can reckon on there being at least twice the number of peeps you see signed up here -- possibly more. And we're all totally friendly and welcoming and all that guff.
Remember to sign up if you intend to come. Either probable or definite. So we know numbers. And can send you further info if required. Hope you can join us. It'll be a blast. Click on the picture below to get a sense of Maiden Castle.
