23 April 2010: Der Freischütz opera - South Bank performance by Outers (and a few others ...)
Legendary opera of folk tales and the supernatural with a cast including singers from the Covent Garden and English National Operas, narration by well-known TV actor Stuart Milligan, performed by Midsummer Opera chorus and orchestra.
This is the first of this year's opera performances in concert by the Midsummer Opera (MSO), directed by the international conductor David Roblou. MSO has some very successful principal singers enjoying national and international careers, emerging singers, and a great community-based chorus and orchestra, including instrumentalists from some of the best non-professional orchestras in the country. MSO supports promising singers regardless of age or career, with a great mix of gay and lesbian musicians and a fun and down-to-earth atmosphere where the music is taken seriously nevertheless. David Roblou is gaining a reputation for his ability to deliver startlingly fresh interpretations of standard pieces where the music really comes alive. And there's nothing better than live music.

Getting grey under the chin, my nieces adore me, and 2011 was a challenging year that pushed me to make some very good decisions. I'm fit and trim, usually happy, have a great home, have too many things that I like to do, like the countryside, National Trust, classical music, motorbiking, hiking, travelling, nice pubs, good quality anything really!
