Iconic Visconti film in the 'movies that matter' series, with Dirk Bogarde as the lecherous Gustav von Aschenbach, a musician who becomes obsessed with a teenage boy.
Slow, atmospheric 'arthouse' film with little dialogue but lots of music and story-telling through flashbacks and visual expressions. All about repressed homosexuality and 'sickness'. Set, as the title suggests, in Venice. Stunning cinematography. No liability accepted for Deaths in the cinema.
Tickets £5 at box office, but vue website suggests you can get two for £5 online.
