DAY WALK: Long Mynd Hollows (Shropshire)

DISTANCE: 16km (10 miles)
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING
We will make the short ascent to Pole Bank which is the highest point on the Mynd. From here its all down for quite a while. We will take the path into Ashes Hollow which is really beautiful. It's a narrow valley with just a path and a stream running its length. Eventually emerging at Little Stretton we will take the lane to the Wern and enter Callow Hollow.
This is a little known hollow and we might not see a soul for the hour or so it takes us to walk up to the top of the Mynd. It's a very gentle ascent. On reaching the top of the Mynd we will either return directly to the start, have a wander around Minton Hill and visit the fells there or drop over the over side of the Mynd and walk back up via Stanbatch depending on the time.
This is a easy walk suitable for people trying walking for the first time. Setting off at 11 with a gentle pace and frequent stops to look at the wonderful scenery we will be back at the start between 4 and 5. The length will be about 10 miles.
