DAY WALK: Ledbury to Malvern Non-circular Walk (Worcestershire)

DIFFICULTY: Moderate
DISTANCE: 18,5km (13 miles)
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING
The 18.5km (13mile) walk will start at Ledbury, one of the best black-and-white towns in England. Many of its original 16th Century buildings survive to grace the town scene. We will pass the old Market House, and walk up through Dead Woman's Thorn to Eastnor's Church and Castle. After passing through farmland and the obelisk at the eastern edge of Eastnor Deer Park (one of several fine viewpoints along the walk) we will turn north and start our trek along the ridges of the great Malvern Hills.
After passing through News Wood and near to British Camp Reservoir we will visit the Herefordshire Beacon before continuing on along Shire Ditch to the Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point in the Malvern Hills (425m) and the climax of our walk. From here we will descend past North Hill back to the car park in the township of Malvern.
