Day of Meditation, london, London
17 July 2011: Day of Meditation
A chance to explore more deeply the practices taught on Monday night at the Gay and Bi meditation evening.
The purpose of this day of meditation is not to learn new techniques or add further information about the practices, but to have a chance to see what happens when we give a day to slowing down, reflecting and listening with gentle awareness to our body, mind and heart.
The day provides an opportunity to experience a progressive deepening of our meditation practice through returning to the practices throughout the day - its not about having an objective to find stillness or peace or relaxation, but to allow whatever arises during the day to be held with Awareness. Becoming Aware of being Aware is to be at peace. Whatever there is in one's experience may arise and wash over one, but not move one.
To attend this event you need to have been to at least two Monday evenings in order to be familiar with the meditations.
I'll be teaching a simple form of mindful movement that helps to bring attention to the body and the sensations within the body. No sitting session will be longer than 25 minutes and will be broken up with periods of walking or mindful movement - as well as the all important tea breaks at 11am and 4pm!
After lunch the group will spilt into smaller groups of around 7 people. This will provide an opportunity to discuss the practices, talk about your meditation experience and of learning from others as you listen to their experience.
Cost: £45 (concessions available)

I teach a meditation group for gay men in London. I lived for six years as a Buddhist monk and now live in London. I'm looking at ways of going into businesses to teach meditation - 'stress busting'. Let me know if you are interested! In my social life I like to relax with friends and explore spiritual teachings. I'm not heavily into the scene so more likely to goto the theatre or park.
