Big Summer Camp, Rushton Spencer, Off the A523, Staffordshire
15 August 2008: Big Summer Camp
This is our second year of having a Summer Camp, we have a campsite in Staffordshire to ourselves, set in a large forested campsite on the edge of a reservoir. It has close motorway links and is only 5 miles away from the nearest train station.
This event is being run by OutdoorLads.com however all members of OutEveryWhere are welcome to attend.
So far over 200 OutdoorLads members have paid to attend this event, so it really is set to be a BIG camp!

There will be activities at all levels from introduction climbing to more advanced, a range of walks, on-site activities, watersports on the reservoir, mountain biking, and much more!
In the evenings we have a large camp-fire area, indoor chill area and a more vibrant indoor/outdoor area... There will also be a range of evening activities available for those that don't get enough during the day.
Campsite
The campsite is a large forested campsite consisting of a main social area with indoor halls, and several large fields that we will be using for evening entertainment. The campsite has several toilet/shower blocks dotted around the site, as we have a sole booking you will be able to use both mens and ladies facilities.
Food
Food and drinks will be available throughout the weekend (Not included in the event cost), these may include BBQ, hog roast, Breakfasts, home cooked meals, snacks, hot and cold drinks and even a bar.
There is also a self-catering kitchen available if you don't have all your own cooking stove etc.
Activities
Walks - Mountain Biking - Climbing - Watersports - Football - On Site Activities - Evening Activities
Activities will be on a first come, first served basis, you must sign up each night between 8-10pm to avoid disappointment and some may have a small charge if equipment hire is needed.
It will be up to the Leader of each activity if you will be allowed to go on it depending on your experience, fitness and skill level. If you do not have the correct kit you will not be allowed on the activity. If you are unsure of anything message the event organiser.
Booking/Paying
To make things quicker and easier we ask all people planning to attend to register on our website and you will be able to pay online for only £35 (www.outdoorlads.com/summercamp).
You are welcome to simple turn up however the gate fee is £45 (Cash only) and we will need you to complete a 'Next of Kin' form for our insurance upon arrival.
What to bring
Please review the Kitlist (http://www.outdoorlads.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=179&Itemid=138). If you do not have everything please contact the Organiser to see if it is essential. Boots and good waterproofs are essential.
Bring a chair, you can get fold down chairs from the likes of tesco/asda etc.
If you intend to do the climbing activities and if you have your own gear, please bring it if you choose, but please make sure it is in good condition, gear is available for hire for those that don't have their own.
If you want to do the mountain biking activities please bring a fully working bike, with good brakes and gears that work. You will also need a helmet.
If you want to bring your own kayak/canoe please do but remember it needs to be in good condition and you must have a boyancy aid, gear is available for hire for those that don't have their own.
