Bank holiday real ale pub crawl, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
28 December 2009: Bank holiday real ale pub crawl
A crawl of several real ale pubs in Cambridge.
A pub crawl on the bank holiday Monday after Christmas.
The crawl will start at the Live & Let Live at 12:45 (timing due to train timetables, the 11:45 from Kings X arriving at 12:31). This pub has Everards Tiger and Nethergate Umbel (a coriander beer) as regulars, 5 guest ales and a cider.
Next up will be the Empress, an old-fashioned boozer with Adnams, Pedigree, Landlord and guest (7 pumps including a cider) plus a dartboard and pool table. Then to the Kinston Arms, a pub with up to 10 guest ales on at any time. The fourth stop will be the Cambridge Blue, a pub which claims to have sold 1100 (presumably different!) real ales since October 2007.
We'll then go to the Free Press, a Greene King pub (with a tiny snug) serving IPA, Mild and Abbots and a guest. Finally we'll head back towards the station to the Salisbury Arms Bombardier, Waggledance, Broadside, Tribute and Woodforde Wherry being typical inclusions among the eight pumps.
We'll do approximately one pub an hour, finishing around 7pm.
