REAL ALE FESTIVAL
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway presents it's third May Bank Holiday Beer Festival. Taking place at Havenstreet Station, the festival will be open on all three days of the holiday weekend from 11am to 10pm (5pm on Bank Holiday Monday)
The May Bank Holiday 2008 Beer Festival will be featuring a selection of ales from local Isle of Wight breweries Goodards, Ventnor and Yates, as well as an interesting selection of Real Ales drawn from across the West and South West of England, including Barum, Sherborne, Wickwar and Ramsbury. There will be at least twenty four ales to choose from and the experienced team of enthusiastic bar staff will spare no effort in ensuring that all are served in absolutely perfect condition! Souvenir beer glasses will be available to purchase.
Food will be available from Granny Winters during the day and a BBQ on Saturday and Sunday between 5.30pm - 7.30pm. Special evening trains will enable festival goers to have an extended stay before heading for home by vintage steam train.
Last years event has been judged a resounding success by both customers and railway staff. Thirsty customers consumed 18 72-pint casks of Isle of Wight and Mainland brewed Real Ale and two barrels of traditional cider.
Despite an increased beer order last year the last pint had been consumed by mid afternoon on the last day of the festival so the quantity of beer will be further increased this year to ensure that all of our customers thirsts are satisfied!
Now firmly established in the IWSR Special Events calendar, further improvements are already being planned for the 2008 festival, including a change of venue to a marquee, and will ensure the Beer Festival is able to meet the high expecations of it's customers as the event grows in size.
