In my small team of colleagues, I've noticed the 'style' of banter has changed and as a consequence, a few members of the teams are feeling uneasy with hints of segregation, bullying and ill-feeling.

None of these are very big issues yet and all of them have been nipped in the bud.

I'd like to initiate some kind of 'Respect for each other' in the workplace week, to remind everyone that the atmosphere we work in is created by us. Gossipping, poor-taste joking and grouping up causes everyone to feel bad, as the protagonists end up being ostracised as much as the person they're picking on, whether it be 'in good part' or not.

Does anyone have any experience of engaging anything productive and engaging for people to draw focus to the subject?

Any ideas you could part with which I can employ to help people be a little nicer to each other and a little bit more friendly?

It was suggested that we have a 'Respect week' where talking in groups, banter-esque jokes and overfamiliarity is dissuaded as much as possible. I do think that this can be a bit stifling and heavy-handed, but wondered if there were any early-stage things I could do?

Your ideas greatly appreciated.
