OK this isn't what some of you want to hear....

After a little chat with my boss today, he told me I may have to start training on some of the technologies I don't really like....

So there was me... thinking 'Balls, they're sacking people who don't cover as much stuff as they'd like, and I don't do their core stuff...shit..."

But lo and behold, when I asked why, he said its because as from January our company doesn't have enough resources to cover all the work its likely to have ,so we need to cross train to help each other out according to priorities until they can find more people (admittedly they're DAMN picky about who they employ)

Now I work in the banking sector... Banks are meant to be going under... Admittedly not directly for a bank ...No one's meant to have any money... WTF is going on????

(I still don't wanna train in the core stuff though lol)

Are there any other work sectors that seem to be embracing the recession?

We're advertising for 6 new positions in my department at the moment, and I've applied for one of them.

But people will always need to buy train tickets, and as more of them do it on the web, I guess we'll keep growing.

Still got 4 vacancies at my place, though admittedly it is rather specialist, they've resorted to direct external recruitment now as well as internally still.

I am an actor and have been attending theatre across the region for many months now and most have been totally packed, even for expensive pursuits such as ballet and opera, costing in excess of 50 pounds a seat!!

I can't see much direct influence of recession so far...
