A topic from Work & Money: Employment

Thanks to Harriet Harman, British born males can now be discriminated against when applying for work. How does it work? Basically, as a way to make the national workforce more 'equal', companies (and other employers) can choose a woman or a foreign ethnic minority (not British born), over a British born male, based on quotas and funding - regardless of whether the British born male is more qualified for the post.

This is her way of ensuring equality of pay. Rather than bringing Female and foreign ethnic minority pay rates up to that of the typical British born male, employers can now save money by employing only cheaper staff. Thus, in time, bringing down wages so that British born males will be paid the same as everyone else.

Incidentally, in my line of work, I've seen this 'equality' plan for at least five years. In several cases, where a better qualified man has been the obvious choice, a lesser qualified woman has been employed in order to save money.

Your thoughts.
