God what a morning and tbh it just caps of a rubbish year with them regarding phone and online banking. The annoying thing is its nothing the major, just daft petty stuff that should be so easy to resolve yet ends up with endless trips to a branch to get it rectified.

Over the past year i've had major difficulty trying to pay off part of my mortgage since it swapped over from the Woolwich. The Woolwich was great, you walked in, handed a cheque over, told them you wanted to pay 10% off of your mortgage, they gave you a receipt, job done. 5 minutes max. Barclays took 45 minutes to do it with a personal banker, the money went into the wrong account and then it took nearly a month to sort everything out.

Second grumble is when i travel abroad. I phone them up and say i'm travelling to this and this country over the next few weeks, don't block my card. I get to said country and when cash starts to run low, can I get any out, nope. I get home and phone up to find out whats happened and they happily explain that they've stopped card fraud from happening on your card in several countries and when i explain it was me, they say, well you should've phoned us before you went. Happened in Mongolia and Slovenia. Not the easiest of places to get money out when you're short.

Third grumble....... yes there's more, but last one i promise ;o) Went to purchase a new camera from Amazon last night, chose express delivery and they come back saying there's a problem processing your card. I have this sinking feeling Barclays have flagged it as potential fraud. I phone them up this morning, spoke to a nice lady, very helpful, went through all the security questions and she then passed me onto the Fraud Team. Went through some very ambiguous security questions. Name a well known online dvd retailer you've used, no problems. Then name an airline you used in January. Janurary!! Blimey i'm flying all over the place at the moment. Told him that i used three, BA, Easyjet and TAP. Now the last one must be a clear indication its me as its an unusual airline to use. Not for him. You've failed the security questions you have to go to a branch with ID to get the transaction unblocked. A total waste of my time. I'm signed up to VISA Verified and have their own little PIN device at home, why is this so difficult! If it had been for thousands i could understand, but its a £400 camera.

The lady in the branch was brilliant, very helpful, but i shouldn't have to keep going in branch to sort these things out.

Man that felt good writing it all down :D And relax...........

I'm thinking of swapping to either the Nationwide or Co-op. With the Co-op can you use any other banks cash machine to withdraw money?
