How is this "feature" supposed to work? Matching people with similar interests? Nope. Matching people with similar self-selected and automatically-assigned tags as a pretty hopeless proxy for people with similar interests? Even that doesn't seem to be it; the last ten OUTers who appeared in this box on my home-page were from, respectively:

1. Cardiff
2. Cardiff
3. Newport
4. Abergavenny
5. Cardiff
6. Barry
7. Cardiff
8. Newport
9. Swansea
10. Cardiff

I've looked, but "incapable of having anything in common with someone outside of South Wales" is not one of my tags.

There seems to be a geographical or distance filter in operation. It seems a little odd given the name of the site...

Yes, the Tag Match looks for people in your local area. As the name suggests, it's based on having similar tags. It assumes though that meeting people who share your interests and who live within a reasonable travelling time of you is better than matching across the whole UK.

*sniff*

S'not fair. I need access to a larger gene pool if I'm ever to find someone who'll put up with me.

*bursts into tears, stamps foot*

PS. The tags for this forum were supposed to be "I / like / Wales / really / but / sometimes / I / leave".

Worry not, the search system is currently being entirely re-coded and it will enable you to search as far afield as you like and will include the facility to search the multi-choices. You can already use it right now to search for people further away than your local area though.

Yup, they need to be about the content really - it won't allow duplicates and trashes very common words like "I" ;) Try changing them to: wales, leaving wales, like wales, welsh. Ta-da.

Why are you being so reasonable sno'? Can't you see you're getting in the way of my tantrum?

*cries, wails, gnashes teeth, stamps foot, rends clothing*

Oh, umm, sorry. I'll step out.

Here you go, have the floor... tantrum away!! :)

*sniffs*

S'alright. I'm not really in the mood any more.

*pouts moodily*
