Mad and thirtysomething. Looking for people to keep me out of trouble, play a few sports with, give me massages, and buy me bottles of magners cider! Someone to do my gardening as well would be good!

Now I appreciate that they are essential, you need to make sure that they are working and keep testing them, you never know when they may be needed.

But last night, about 1am, one of my smoke alarms started beeping, telling me the battery was dying. So, feeling very tired, and having drunk a bottle of wine, I got my step ladders out and tried to turn it off until the morning.

Now the bastard thing wont come off the ceiling, as its also attached to the mains, so I'm standing on the ladder, in my underwear, with a screwdriver trying to get the battery compartment open to take the battery out, the screws fall out and go somewhere down the stairs which I'm balanced next to (and I cant find them), but I finally open the compartment and take battery out. That will do til the morning.

Oh no. It still keeps beeping. So after hitting it a few times, I still cant detatch it from the ceiling, so I go and look at my other smoke alarm to check that and see if that will come off the ceiling, and it does, but I bend one of the metal pins getting it off...bugger!!

But I go back to the beeping one, and do the same with that and finally disconnect it from ceiling. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! And head now spinning...bloody wine!

I go to the bedroom....and I here the beeping again. BUT THE SMOKE ALARM IS SAT ON THE FLOOR, NOT CONNECTED TO ANYTHING AND NO BATTERY. HOW CAN IT BEEP!

No it is the ceiling that is beeping....the fucking beeping is not the smoke alarm but the ceiling....HOW???? Someone explain this to me?

So I take the good smoke alarm and attach that back to the beeping smoke "socket". Job done!

Of course not. IT KEEPS BEEPING!!! Finally, after hitting it, setting the test buttom off a million times and screaming at the top of my voice, it stops. 2.30am!

AAARRRGGGHHH

And then some woman called my phone at 3.30am....WRONG FUCKING NUMBER!! I was not very polite to her, especially when she wanted to know what my telephone number was. YOU JUST PHONED THE FUCKING THING, SURELY YOU KNOW!!
