This is purely a whinge and I am feeling a bit fuckwittish. I only want sympathy. No wisdom after the event, thanks all the same, unless you think you know what has happened to my motorbike!

I was zipping down the M40 to London today, with a background feeling of confidence in my 'bike which is a fine machine and has had a lot of work done recently, no expense spared.

Suddenly the power drops by 40%, and there's a terrible clattering sound that calms to the rattle of a Trabant on heat.

And oil starts seeping forth plenteously. Ow ow ow.

Bloody bloody bloody hell. BMWs are supposed to be bullet-proof. I rely completely on this machine. I've spent a fortune on it over 18 months, it has under 50k miles on the clock and now it's in big trouble.

The oil is pouring from the precise location of an oil seal that I had replaced at considerable expense 3000 miles ago, and I do wonder if that noise wasn't the cam chain guide and tensioner failing, as they were replaced at the same time. Hmmm. I might have a fight on my hands.

And now I have a nightmarish early commute to London for the next 3 mornings on public transport ... the bus can take as much as 3 hours sometimes.

you will only know once they told you.. think positive till then, and if it is from same place surely they have some measure of liability? at least a loner till they fix it
