photoI want to say I was raised in the 1980's above a Soho Strip joint by Beryl Reid and Quentin Crisp. I want to say that everything I've learnt about life was taught to me by Video Nasties and MTV. I want to say that gallant men across the land seek my embrace and fight duels for my favour.

When we celebrate the utter tedium that is Eurovision.

It never fails to make me want to pass a kidney stone through my piss-slit simply as a pleasant distraction.

This year, as with every other for the past few years, I am no closer to working out why on Earth the celebration of all things awful is still allowed to be broadcast.

I mean surely in a world where we no longer have 'The Black and White Minstrel Show', Asbestos and Section 28 the Eurovision is another shameful episode we could consign to the dusty archives of history?

"Oh but it's such fun...."

No. No it really isn't. It is 'X-factor' with less talent, not something that is really easy to imagine I know but year upon year you can actually see a charm and talent vacuum occurring on your TV. It is the cultural equivalent of Whales beaching themselves.

"Oh you are a miserable git. It's just a bit of fun..."

No. I'm sorry that's not correct either. Scientific tests recently performed have categorically proven that only people who are, well, a little bit dense find it so.

It isn't 'amusing' or 'kicth'.

It's just a very old joke I wish people would stop telling.
