A topic from OUT Website: Positive and Encouraging Stories

I'm never sure about the positive story forum, what is positive to one is meaningless to others.
Well, this is positive to me, I don't expect many of you to really understand, but to me it is a mile stone in my life.
The last 8 years at least of my life have been shit, my partners illness for 5 years, his death, then my ill health that I handnt noticed while he was ill.
Just over a year ago I was told I was going to die, I spent 3 months sorting out my will and my funeral. Many of you won't understand what that does to you or what it entails, but trust me it makes today very real.
Then suddenly my company stepped in and arranged surgery for me, suddenly almost a year ago I was told I might live!
Then 4 weeks later I had my surgery and found that life would indeed continue, though I was at a very low point. This followed by the MRSA infection and 2007 seemed like it would never end, I eventually got through it.
Since then I have struggled to gain strength and return to work, over the last 6 months my return to work has been hard. Finally I have achieved full return to work, the hours I work are hard, the job is stressfully, but those who have lost their partners will know that you take what you can get.
Something like 99% of all the contacts I have attempted through OUT have ended negatively, I'm not attractive, I'm not young, I'm not highly intelligent, I'm not well travelled, but I am alive.
I have a few contacts in OUT and I value them greatly.
So the point of the post, a year after I planned my funeral I am still here, and expect to be here for some time to come.
My favourite saying at work when asked how I am is "Well enough to be annoying". Yes I would like more of a social life, I would like more friends, but I value what I have, and one thing I don't have is a funeral!
So a year on, world watch out because I'm expecting more from you than I've had!
If you don't think this is positive then I'm sorry, to me it truly is! |

Good on you lonestar. It sounds positive to me.
I really hope the next few years are better than the last few years for you |
