The above has been killed in a NATO airstrike apparently according to Libyan media. This is the 28 year old youngest son of Gadaffi, also killed were 3 of his grandsons. Muammar Gadaffi apparently was in the house that got hit but has escaped.

is this right though or another stunt coz if I remember rightly Gadaffi's adopted daughter got killed back in the 80's but yet there's been little proof he had an adopted daughter and it was always stetchy exactly how she died, what happened to the body etc.

Thing is with Gadaffi you can never be too sure what the truth really is.

and well if he is dead, he came across as just as unhinged as his father so good riddance.

The thing I hate about Gaddafi is you used to be able to say "Never believe anything until it's been officially denied."

So now NATO comes along (I expect) and officially denies that they had any aircraft, drones, bombs or even umbrellas anywhere near that suburb of Tripoli ... but does this mean I'm going to believe it ... ?

The UN mandate is very loosely worded. Even if it can be proved to be only half legal, they'd be fools not to cut the head off the snake. Ofcourse they're going to target gaddaffi, Now they've got involved, stalemate is untenable.

You mean, the Arabs hate us already, how much worse can it get?

No, that its not what I mean at all.

Nato has compromised it self (again) by getting involved. A protracted struggle where there is no clear winner is the worst possible scenario for every one. If they were not prepared to let the rebels Benghazi get annihilated, then they have to take it to a conclusion. The rebels as far as I am concerned might end up no more palatable, or less murderous the the Gadaffi regime. Its too late for that kind of reasoning now however. The best thing the nato can do know is knock gaddafi out and give Libya help to recover and establish credible democratic insitutions.

So is this the son who did a few interviews with Western media a while back - the one who had studied at the LSE and was supposed to have become Westernised but sounded every bit as pro Gadaffi as Gadaffi himself?
