With the impending arrival of Lipstick Jungle (see quickfind:314203 )...the war has begun to find a new series in which to please the fans of the Sex and The City genre.

But having seen Lipstick Jungle I can now safely say..Sex And The City...move over! There are new ladies in town who are set to take over :)

Welcome to a group of successful career women, dubbed the Cashmere Mafia. This new dramedy has had a few successful episodes air in the States already, and it was in danger of being axed due to the current strike. But this is one series that looks like it's going to go far!

I'm not sure if anyone has already seen this..but the way I would describe these women is if you can imagine Desperate Housewives meets Sex And The City. Like SATC..they're all high-powered career ladies, but like DH..they're also trying to manage the men and family in their lives. Or...in one case..trying to manage a girlfriend and the task of dealing with being outed as a lesbian, and being a career woman in the public eye.

So are there any familiar faces in this one? Of course...but some of you might not recognise them. Those who are a fan of movies like AI: Artificial Intelligence, Kill Bill or Lord of the Rings: Two Towers & Return of the King might be find their faces familiar. Like most of these programmes..they normally require a helping hand from someone who is more recognisable than the others. In this case...Lucy Liu leads this pack!

Liu plays Mia Mason, who ever since she was a young girl...all she ever wanted to do was win. Now as a sexy, competitive woman in the publishing field, that drive to be first has intensified, even pitting her against her fiancé for a key position. What price will she have to pay to stay on top of the mountain?

Then we have Zoe Burden (played by Frances O'Connor - who starred in AI), an investment banker with a gorgeous, loving, work-at-home architect husband, Eric (Julian Ovenden), and two small children, seems to be the prototype for the woman who has it all. The couple face their 24/7 waltz of balancing full-time work and the challenge of being good parents with good humor, but the wheels may be coming off the cart, forcing Zoe to re-think her life...and probably what she may need to give up.

With Juliet Draper (Miranda Otto - who also starred in the Lord of the Rings movies), the Chief Operating Officer of a major hotel chain, appearances come first -- no matter what's going on behind closed doors. It's safe to say that she's not too different from the character of Bree Hodge (from DH)! In keeping with the 'perfectionist' image..she will have to work overtime to keep up the façade of a perfect life with her philandering husband, Davis (Peter Hermann), and her rebellious 14-year-old daughter. Juliet decides on a unique method of payback for Davis' indiscretions and simultaneously, in a bold move, must decide to drop her public image to step out in the world.

And last...but by no means least..there's Caitlin Dowd (played by Bonnie Somerville - most would recognise her for playing Mona in Friends). She's a top marketing executive for a cosmetics firm. Like the other women, she is excelling professionally, but she's still discovering who she is personally and sexually. She's worked hard to get ahead, but still counts on her street smarts to keep her there, while her sense of humor and a sweet wackiness makes her all the more attractive.

UK fans of SATC won't immediately run towards this, but it should be said that the majority of the US fans embraced this with open arms...and SATC is a difficult series to match.

As to where and when this will air over here...all I know is that it's likely to be this year!
